SO, WHO THE BLOODY HELL ARE WE?

Well, we're the Stroms!

We met back in high school in 2014, fell head over heels (oh la la), got married in 2022 and started having babies in 2023.

We've got three little ones these days: Darcie, Archie and Louie. If you're thinking to yourself 'three under two, you guys must be crazy'... Got it in one! We've also got our dog Winnie & our cat Torti. We're a busy little household over here!

Where did 'The Too Hard Basket' originate?

Kaleb was the one to suggest cloth nappies to me back when we were pregnant with Darcie but I had in mind that this meant terry towelling all wrapped and twisted, topped off with a big old safety pin. So we popped that idea in the 'Too Hard Basket' (see what we did there?).

Fast forward to our twin boys and suddenly not only were the costs ramping up for disposable nappies - but the amount of rubbish we were producing... our carbon footprint felt like it was skyrocketing. So I jumped online and did some more research into cloth nappies.

To my delight, they've come a long way! Whilst you can still absolutely get your hands on some terry towelling nappies if that's your style, the designs and practicality of these nifty little things have improved drastically.

Why did we start 'The Too Hard Basket'?

There were a few key factors that were very evident when researching modern cloth nappies (MCN's).

#1 - The Cost

Don't get us wrong, its absolutely worth it when you break down the costs over time - but the initial figure can feel a little overwhelming. We're hoping that our hire service will give families the opportunity to test the waters before committing to such a large purchase.

#2 - Washing, Stuffing & Lining

When you've got little monkeys to worry about - laundry can become quite the afterthought. We want to eliminate this part of the cloth nappy journey for families which we believe, in turn, will see more people make the switch! We'll drop off and pick up your nappies, pre-wash them, main wash them, stuff them and line them. That way all you've got to do is pop them on your little one.

#3 - Environmental Impact

Did you know that in the first year of their life, babies go through an average of 2500 to 3000 nappies. That is CRAZY! And those disposable bad boys don't plan on breaking down for about 500 years. MCN's can be used again and again over the years, including across siblings! We want to help families make the change by removing the hard yards and making the journey as smooth as possible.
